Meet Principal Trenae Howard
Trenae Howard earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration degree from Concordia University-Wisconsin (CUW), a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from ITT Technical Institute, a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Concordia University-Portland, and is currently working on her Doctorate of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership at Northcentral University. Prior to her career in educational leadership, Trenae worked her way into leadership roles as an engineer. During this time, she learned how to be a humble leader and work for the good of the group -- lessons that she carries with her as a principal. Trenae came to Granville Lutheran School in 2008 as a teacher before becoming the principal for the past 12 years.
What is special about Granville Lutheran?
“Granville Lutheran is such a family experience. Once parents and students experience the culture and teachers, their students don't want to leave. That's what makes us stand out.”
What is your philosophy about education and its importance?
“Students need to learn and we need to meet students where they are at and move them forward. I believe it doesn’t matter where you start, but where you can go in your educational journey. Students need to be active participants in their educational journey, and they need helpful feedback from us to keep striving for success.”
What do you love about what you do?
“I love the children I get to see and love on each day, and I love the families that keep coming back no matter what with their kids, grandkids, and neighborhood kids.”
What is your hope for LUMIN scholars as they grow?
“My hope is that all children will succeed and make a difference in the world and in their families.”
Favorite bible verse?
“In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.” - Psalm 71:1
In your free time, what do you like to do?
“I enjoy spending my free time with my family!”
What is your greatest accomplishment?
“My greatest accomplishment is raising successful children, and sharing that love with the students I serve at Granville.”
What’s your favorite book and/or movie?
“My favorite book is the Bible, and my favorite movie is Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince.
What’s one fun fact about you?
“I love taking selfies and recording myself singing in the car.”
